Main Description
Stay Seated is a 2-part chair performance series for dancers who want to slow down, stay grounded, and make every shift, pause, and transition actually matter.
Led by Rachel / Baby Owl, this series explores chair work as more than a prop. You’ll learn how to use the chair with intention, build tension without rushing, and create movement that feels controlled, sensual, and complete.
Part I: Take Your Time
A choreography-based class focused on pacing, musicality, and control. You’ll work on taking your time, letting transitions breathe, and making simple movement land harder.
Part II: Trick Play
A more dynamic session focused on tricks, transitions, texture, and range. You’ll explore how to add levels, pathways, and contrast while keeping your movement intentional.
This is for you if:
You rush your best moments.
You want to slow down without disappearing.
You want more control over how your movement is received.
You want your chair work to feel grounded, intentional, and usable.
You’re ready to build presence, not just skill.
You’ll need:
A sturdy chair
Space to move
Knee pads recommended
Heels optional
